Fozgometer V2 Azimuth Range Meter

The Fozgometer V2 is here!

The new model features a more sensitive meter for precise measurements, an easier-to-read display, and the option to use an outboard power supply, as well as a 9v battery. The new Fozgometer V2 retails for $400 USD.

Phono cartridge azimuth is a key parameter for getting the best stereo imaging and sound staging. For optimal stereo performance from a modern phonograph system, the pickup cartridge azimuth must be properly adjusted. Prior to the Fozgometer, one had to use an oscilloscope, AC voltmeter, or computer program, methods can be expensive and time-consuming.

The FOZGOMETER V2 is a small portable battery-powered or wall-powered meter that is used in conjunction with a test record to measure channel separation, channel balance, and signal direction quickly and accurately. It incorporates a “Log Ratio Detector”, developed by Jim “Foz” Fosgate for surround processor steering logic circuits, to measure cartridge azimuth. The readings can be made with a wide range of input signals; directly from the tonearm cables, from the output of a phono stage, or from a tape output, without affecting accuracy. Readings are taken without touching the meter, leaving your hands free to adjust the tonearm. The meter reads channel separation in both directions, and channel balance. The LEDs indicate Left, Center, and Right signal (test tone) positions.

For best results, we recommend The Ultimate Analogue Test LP by Analogue Productions:

The Ultimate Analogue Test LP features a comprehensive selection of test tracks and is recommended for use with our Fozgometer. It was produced by Clark Williams of Acoustic Sounds and cut at Sterling Sound on a Neumann VMS-80 cutting lathe with a newly rebuilt SX-74 cutter-head.

Luxman L509X Integrated Amplifier

L-509X

The realization of a desirable idea – the ultimate refinement of separates in a single unit.

The L-509X integrates the features of both a high quality separate amplifier and a high performance integrated amplifier into one product. The goal of creating an ideal integrated amplifier, initiated by LUXMAN with the launch of the L-509fSE in 2002, has now been advanced with the development of the L-509X. The L-509X integrated amplifier is equipped with many desirable features, such as the New LECUA1000 and a discretely configured buffer circuit in the output stage of the pre-amplifier circuit. LUXMAN’s ODNF (Only Distortion Negative Feedback) original amplifier feedback circuit and a power supply with independent left and right channel blocking capacitors are intrinsic to this design, as well as many components used only in high end models, ensuring high-quality audio reproduction. The design of the L-509X incorporates the cream of LUXMAN’s proprietary technologies, breaking new ground and creating the ultimate expression of “separates in a single unit”.

Nottingham Analogue AnnaLog Turntable c/w Anna Tone arm

One of our favorite turntables. The lovely wooden chassis (or ‘log’) is made from either Sapele or aged Oak. Each ‘log’ is made by joining sections of the timber in a rotational fashion allowing the audio frequencies to disperse away from the platter, once the ‘log’ is machined and dressed it is allowed to season, only then is it ready to be made into the ‘AnnaLog’. The platter, bearing and spindle assembly is the same as on the Dais turntable and also comes as standard with its own power supply. The AnnaLog can accommodate two tonearms if required. Black gloss finish for the platter and base with color options available at extra cost.

Degritter Ultrasonic Record Cleaner

The World’s Most Versatile Record Cleaning Machine: Degritter Uses 120kHz Ultrasonic System and 300W Amplifier, Features Frequency Sweep, Active Filtering, Many Settings

Fill the water tank with distilled water, insert an LP, and hit start: That’s all it takes to thoroughly wash and dry a record within minutes with the fully automatic Degritter ultrasonic record cleaning machine. Offering supreme versatility and simple one-click cleaning, the innovative device uses an in-house-designed 120kHz ultrasonic system to rid vinyl of filth, film, dust, and debris. In combination with a 300W ultrasonic amplifier, the bespoke bath also utilizes four ultrasonic transducers (two on each side) to cover your entire LP. Plus, Degritter is the world’s only 120kHz cleaning machine with a frequency sweep feature.

Proven effective via countless tests and results examined under digital and electron microscopes, Degritter comes with an active filtering solution that removes small particles and dirt from the water during the cleaning process. Amazingly, any dirt washed from the LP gets filtered out during the bath and won’t end up back on your vinyl. Easy to maintain, the cylindrical steel-mesh filter – outfitted with replaceable open-cell foam – can be accessed from the side of the machine. Its exterior can even be washed for hassle-free upkeep. Relatedly, Degritter contains a control board connected to the sensors, actuators, and LCD. Any software updates can be made via an SD card slot that guarantees your machine is as up to speed as those shipping from the factory.

Indeed, when it comes to control and safety, Degritter stands alone. An unprecedented 20 different fan power settings give you complete command over drying-fan speed, power, and noise. High power equates to quicker drying; the inverse selection nets near-total quiet. The choice is yours. Degritter also includes an active monitoring system that warns about sensor malfunction, high water temperatures, water in the cleaning tank due to switch-off, missing water tank, insufficient water, and pump failures. As an extra safety net, software subroutines check the status of the sensors to prevent any unexpected failures due to sensor malfunction.

Engineered to handle 12-inch LPs by default, Degritter will also clean 7- and 10-inch records with the use of optional adapters that convert your smaller vinyl to 12 inches in diameter. Measuring 14.6 x 11 x 8.3 inches (HWD), it makes for an indispensable addition to any vinyl lover’s collection – and will pay immeasurable, instant dividends. Be prepared to hear even your grubbiest and most contaminated LPs with new ears.

“[The Degritter] is reliable, and it’s a smooth operator: quiet, glitch-free, and a pleasure to use… The records I inserted over the months came out totally dry – and sparkling clean in ways that vacuuming cannot approach.”
– Michael Fremer, Stereophile

“Based upon my experience using the Degritter on a daily basis for several months, I can say that this is a dependable and extremely convenient cleaning system that works exactly as advertised. Its ability to banish noise and thereby unearth greater dynamics and emotionally compelling details from my favorite recordings provided pleasures I can’t do without. So, I bought the review unit and can honestly say that I am now one of those weirdoes who looks forward to cleaning records.”

Thorens TD 124 DD Turntable c/w TP 124 Tone Arm

Swiss Machine – There are quite a few legendary names in high fidelity which are capable of sparking joy in the hearts of most audiophiles when mentioned. The record player we are talking about here – the Thorens TD 124 – certainly occupies a place at the top of the ranking.

Thorens is now building on this tradition with the completely newly developed TD 124 DD and continues it with innovative technologies. The purist design and basic construction are based on the original, but the height-adjustable die-cast aluminum chassis now rests on vibration-damping rubber elements. Instead of the original drive with friction wheel and belt, the new TD 124 DD uses a new developed THORENS 12 pole “High Precision” Direct Drive motor with “Delrin” bearing mirror. This provides powerful torque, allows precise speed control, and keeps unwanted vibrations from the drive away from the platter. The weighted IEC W&F is >= 0,04% and because of the tolerances of the recording record, it is in the barely measurable range. The double platter with mechanical platter brake was replaced by a 3.5 kg heavy nonmagnetic aluminum platter with electronic motor brake.

Also new is the tonearm TP 124. It can be precisely adjusted in all parameters to the cartridge of choice and features an innovative anti-skating solution with a ruby bearing and a patented electric tonearm lift to facilitate gentle placement and removal of the stylus. The completely newly developed TP 124 is a cardanic suspended tonearm with Löfgren geometry. A high-precision Japanese ball bearing with special oil is used as the horizontal bearing.
