With the new loudspeakers of the Callas Series, Opera’s intention is to recreate, within the
home environment, the emotion and pleasure of listening to music; to provide a stable and focused musical soundstage in three dimensions with correct timbre, dynamics and detail; and to do this with no sense of listening fatigue.

To achieve this goal, every single technical aspect of the design was subjected to intense musical listening tests at Opera.

The new loudspeakers of the Callas Series use techniques and components which reflect the state-of-the-art in electroacoustic design, including controlled-diffraction cabinets, drive units and crossovers. Every type of distortion has been analyzed, quantified and reduced. The sonic result is tonally correct, convincing, involving and most of all, enjoyable to listen to.

The Callas Series loudspeakers are elegant and beautifully finished, and will discreetly enhance any room.

The Project

The aim of the Callas series is to recreate a precise soundstage which is stable and correct in its proportions and in the dimensions and weight of each instrument or voice. The choice of multiple small diameter drive units offers a number of advantages of a mechanical, electrical and thermal nature, and if employed correctly can greatly improve the acoustic quality of the loudspeaker.

Controlled-Dispersion Cabinets

Regarding the suspended column cabinet, the structure is made of a mix of medite and plywood, with teardrop-section curved sides, veneered and finely lacquered in the best Italian tradition. The front baffle is finished in quality leather. This, along with the benefit of appearance, also serves to reduce diffraction.

The cabinet is divided into two independent chambers. The two woofers are reflex loaded with a double chamber tuned system. The port radiating the lower frequencies faces the floor to increase the air loading, producing great depth of bass.

Tercel Model 2

My Kind of Music is proud to introduce its newest member of its Loudspeaker family.  The Tercel is a custom assembly Horn design featuring Lowther based drivers with no Crossover Network.  The Model Two is shown with the Lowther PM7C.  Its sensitivity rating of 96db makes it a perfect match for the EAR 859 at 13wpc or most SET amplifiers.  Cabinets are available in a variety of real wood finishes.  Come and listen to a truly exceptional Loudspeaker.
 

LSA Loudspeakers

In creating the LSA Loudspeakers we decided, as a basic rule of thought, that ALL music is worhwhile, taste notwithstanding, and that to varying degrees, all recordings are, therefore, worth listening to, IF you like that particular music. So, armed with that philosophy, we designed a speaker which allows the listener to enjoy all music— Welcome to the world of LSA, where the software rules, rather than the hardware.
We think that in doing this, we have increased listening enjoyment to music lovers dramatically. As an important disclosure, it is important to know that our speakers don’t leave out, or filter out the ‘bad’ parts of the recordings, in order to allow the music to sound pleasant. That would defeat the whole purpose—just as the Stradivarius is complete in its musical sound—so is the LSA.
We simply have listened to recorded music for several decades, and using thousands of examples engineered our speakers to allow for enjoyment heretofore not available. Now, seriously, Are we as remarkable as Antonio Stradivarius, and his work? Of course not, but after a few hours with our product you might begin to think we are. We are also aware of the argument that “I can’t change my speakers to sound right with poor recordings”, is rampant in the industry—we just feel that after listening, you will be smitten with the sound.
So, when you pull out that recording which was unlistenable previously, and you can now enjoy it—think about LSA, and our reason for being—your listening enjoyment.

Wilson Benesch have launched their new Odyssey range of Loudspeakers, the Chimera, Discovery, Arc and Centre.
