THE LC1 AC POWER
LINE CONDITIONER
The ac power line injects noise into audio equipment. A filter removes
noise from the ac power line by presenting an impedance mismatch to the
undesirable noise signal. An impedance mismatch reflects noise back into
the power line. This fundamental behavior is that of a band reject filter.
Another source of noise is the audio equipment itself. The power supplies
in audio equipment inject noise back into the power line. Large power
supplies like those in power amplifiers tend to create more noise. A power
amplifier delivers noise to a preamplifier plugged into the same power
source. When noise is removed from an audio system, the system sounds
better. The degree of sonic improvement obtained from noise filtration
depends on several factors. The level of ac power line noise varies between
locations and with time of day. The noise sensitivity of audio equipment
and the noise generated by the equipment varies. The degree of noise removal
between different filters varies dramatically. The sensitivity of listeners
to noise is by no means a constant.
The LC1 ac power line conditioner is a bi-directional noise filtration
system. It not only stops a great deal of noise from entering audio equipment,
but also stops equipment from injecting noise back into the power line
and hence into other components. This is why an individual filter per
component is so desirable. Each component receives a largely isolated
source of nearly noise free ac power.
The LC1 may be used to power a wide range of low powered audio equipment.
Included are preamplifiers, CD players, CD transports, DACs, tuners, tape
decks, phono stages, turntables, passive electrostatic loudspeaker systems
and a range of power amplifiers.

AC Power Line Ground
The LC1 is shipped with
the power line ground disconnected from the three pronged power plug. The
power line ground can easily create very undesirable ground loop problems
in multiple component audio systems. Your dealer can connect the line ground
if so desired. |
